Unit 2: Shared Inquiry (Oct 4/5)

Return Formative Shared Inquiry Rubric on Truth

Feedback:
  • Provide SPECIFIC evidence; state your sources (‘I read some research and it said…’ is not good enough)
  • Evidence should lead to INSIGHT
  • Give each other TIME to process questions
  • Too many questions; not enough ANSWERS
  • When ideas are become repetitive- clarify/verify/summarize and MOVE ON.
  • Rubric is NOT a checklist
Summative theme boards: Violence; Religion; Media; Community Dynamics; Individualism/Freedom; Family; Psychology.
  • Provide 2-3 best pieces of evidence for each of the 3 themes (post-it notes)
  • Read the contributions
  • Submit card with themes listed in order of preference for Summative SI

Close read: Columbine (pgs 173-175)
  • How is Dylan presented? How has Cullen constructed his message?
    • Annotate: rhetorical techniques; language choices; tone; syntax
  • Small SI at table: Practice Specific Evidence + Insight

H/W: Organize Summative Research Portfolio based on allocated theme (improve guiding questions; evidence and insights from Columbine thus far; Find ONE article that extends your ideas on the theme- add to the summative portfolio)
