Unit 1: Narrative (Sept 6/7)

LEARNING INTENTION: To identify tone in narrative writing and practice using it.

Formative Close Read due in drop. Add link to speech (transcript AND video) to rubric in drop.

Lit Circle #4

  • Reflection: What message does the author have for society? Discuss one of the themes from your text with textual evidence (10mins).

NARRATIVE: Formative Writing Task 

The purpose of this formative task is to work on improving TONE and STYLE in narrative writing.

TASK: Rewrite a major event in your novel from another character’s (not the narrator) point of view. Incorporate detailed description and sensory language to create tone. You will receive feedback on the organization (tone) and style strands of the narrative rubric. Your response should be double spaced and 2-3 paragraphs in length. Submit to drop BEFORE next class.
